Black Friday 2018

The Best UK Black Friday Yet?

It looks like this year might be the best yet for Black Friday deals in the UK. A lot of retailers have already launched their discounts, with some starting as early as the beginning of November.

We’ve spent some time finding some of the deals we think are the best. So whether you’re a bargain hunter or an organised Christmas shopper hopefully you may be able to save some money!

Virgin Media are offering discounts on their home broadband and tv packages as well as their mobile phone deals. These include a £24 a month deal on the iPhone 8 and a deal on the Sony Xperia XA2 with a Playstation 4 and Fifa 19 included!

Currys PC World – So far, Currys PC World has had our favourite offer of the Black Friday period. It sold out so quickly that none of us were able to take advantage (Philips Hue starter kit with Amazon Echo Dot included for £50!) However they’ve got our attention and are obviously taking Black Friday seriously. They’ve got a number of TVs, fridges, smart devices and electronics in their sale at the moment.

Red Letter Days are one of the UK’s biggest providers of experience days. According to their website it looks like you have 10 months to book the experience day so forward thinkers could be rewarded. If experience days are on the agenda either this winter or when things warm up in 2019 then Black Friday could be the best time to buy.

Zazzle – The reason we’ve included Zazzle is because the timing of Black Friday ties in perfectly with early Christmas shopping. Zazzle offers personalised (and unpersonalised) cards, t-shirts and gifts and are advertising up to 60% off for Black Friday. This could be a good time to get those Christmas cards sorted!

John Lewis have a lot in their Black Friday sale as well as a price match offer (check terms and availability on this as we haven’t delved too deeply into it). For those that have a John Lewis store in their vicinity they have the handy click and collect option. If not, then there’s also free UK delivery on orders over £50.

Amazon already have a lot of deals for both prime and non-prime members. Their Echo range as well as their tablets have some good discounts and bundles. Amazon tend to do a lot of short term or “lightning” deals so it’s worth checking back regularly.

Ebuyer are another retailer that seem to have quite a lot of short term offers around Black Friday and Cyber Monday. We saw some laptops, graphics cards and monitors in the sale that looked good value. Although it’s always good to compare prices on specific specs as things like laptops may have a very similar model name but vary a lot with their components. SSD memory is something that’s been getting progressively cheaper over the last few months and that trend looks set to continue next year, but if you’re in need of a hard drive you may find a good deal at eBuyer or somewhere like Amazon.

Udemy seem to almost always have a sale on so it’s not surprising that they have Black Friday deals. It can be a great resource for learning new skills. The deal they’re currently advertising for Black Friday is £9.99 courses. Again, you may find a comparable deal from them at other times in the year, but this is course dependent and if there’s one you like the look of this could be a great price.
